Learn how to use your hearing aids to make and receive phone calls, where the call audio is played in your hearing aids.
The way to make hands-free calls with your hearing aids depends on the device you're using, as well as your type of hearing aid.
Our newest hearing aids can receive hands-free calls directly from selected Android phones and tablets, and Windows PCs via next-generation Bluetooth® LE Audio.
Most of our hearing aids can receive hands-free calls and stream music from iPhone, iPad and Mac computers via Made for iPhone (MFI) technology.
If your hearing aids support Bluetooth LE audio but your smartphone, tablet or other device does not support it, you can plug the optional Easy LE Adapter into your device’s USB-C port to turn your hearing aids into a wireless headset.
If your phone and hearing aids do not support hands-free communication, you will need the optional ConnectClip accessory to turn your hearing aids into a headset.
To answer an incoming call to your phone or tablet, briefly press the button on one of your hearing aids or accept the call on your device in the normal way.
The call will be automatically routed to your hearing aids.
On a computer, call handling via the button on the hearing aids is not supported. Accept the call via your computer in the normal way.
To make a call, simply use your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android phone, tablet or Windows PC as normal. The call will automatically be routed to your hearing aids.
Note: On iPhone and iPad hands-free calls must be enabled on your iOS device. To do this, triple click the power or home button. Scroll to Mic Input and make sure it is in the on position. On other devices, hands-free calls are automatically enabled after pairing your hearing aids to the device.
You hearing aids can be connected to multiple devices. However, if you plan on streaming audio or making calls, we recommend turning off Bluetooth on the devices that you are not currently using.
On computers, we recommend disconnecting the hearing aids, as turning off Bluetooth may disconnect wireless accessories such as mouse or keyboard.
How to pair your hearing aids with the Easy LE Adapter
Note:
Your hearing aids must support Bluetooth LE Audio to be compatible with the Easy LE Adapter.
Your Android phone, tablet or PC must have a USB-C port to use the adapter.
Most phones with a 3.5 mm audio jack will not work as intended with the Easy LE Adapter, as manufacturers often choose to route the audio through the audio jack rather than the USB-C.
Ensure that the Easy LE Adapter is plugged into the device you want to use.
To make a call, receive, answer, end a call or use voice dialing, simply use your device in the normal way. The Easy LE Adapter will automatically route the call to your hearing aids.
Note: Call handling functionality via buttons or taps on the hearing aids are not supported. You can use the buttons on your hearing aids to adjust the volume during the call (if this feature has been set up by your hearing care professional).
How to pair your hearing aids with ConnectClip
When the ConnectClip is turned on and in range of your mobile phone, it will automatically connect to the mobile phone.
The status indicator will be steady blue.
When your phone rings, you will hear a ring indicator (and if available, the ringtone from your phone) in your hearing aids.
The status indicator will blink green.
To answer a call, either click the multi-button briefly or answer the call on your mobile phone.
Once the call is connected, the status indicator will change to steady green.
To reject a call, perform a long press on the volume down button while the phone is ringing.
The status indicator will blink green.
To end a call, either click the multi-button briefly or end the call on your mobile phone.
The status indicator will return to steady blue.
To make a call, simply use your mobile phone as you usually would. The call will automatically be connected to the ConnectClip.
Once the call is connected, the status indicator will change to steady green.
Double press the multi-button to activate voice dialling, if it is supported by your phone.
Press and hold the volume-down button for three seconds to mute the hearing aid microphones.
A short press on the volume-up or volume-down button will unmute the hearing aid microphones again.
When pairing compatible Oticon hearing aids with an ASHA-capable phone through the app, the native direct streaming (ASHA) is also automatically made available. This is the recommended way to use ASHA functionality.
Please don’t use the Android native Bluetooth® functionality to connect ASHA.
